A bit more info about my journey getting the cert.

I actually took the exam in late 2021, but I failed by a small margin. I contribute part of me failing to the fact that I somehow got my exam time confused because of time zones, and so I had to rush to my exam right after I woke up, which definitely wasn’t a good start.

Regardless, after I failed, I took it pretty hard because I felt it reflected on my potential to become an accessibility professional. I also wouldn’t be surprised if there was a part of me that felt I would have an easier time with the exam, simply because I was disabled. The reality is, the exam encompasses many different facets of disability and accessibility, much more than what I’ve learned from my lived experiences.

So, I doubled my efforts and began studying even harder at the beginning of 2023. I endlessly read books, articles, the Body of Knowledge, and even programmed a flash card program meant for screen reader users, to make it easier and quicker to flip through a set of cards. As a result, my CPACC score rose a whopping 110 points and I passed!
