@axnxcamr @actuallyautistic you might need to figure out if there is a stressor at school that is causing this. The other thing it might be is anxiety or depression. If he has hidden ADHD that also might be why he is suddenly struggling as he has hit his limit of being able to cope as the workload gets harder and more complex.

@cariefisher sometimes it is because the other person just doesn’t want to do the work. However an old colleague of mine had a stroke and really didn’t remember how to solve the problem he had. While I would help either way most of the time, knowing that he had a memory issue made it less stressful for me to take time out of my day to help him out.

@shockwaver @theynege @Pathfinder I needed the diagnosis for accommodations in work and school so it was worth it for me. But your reasoning is equally valid.

@estellechauvelin @obrerx @actuallyautistic I think a lot of librarians are neurodivergent. And you can do the whole customer service act. It’s the doing it all day everyday that is the soul killing part for me.

@doggle @actuallyautistic Nerdy, Shy, and Socially Inappropriate is a great book especially for the people in your life that want to learn about being Autistic. Purple Ella, Yo Samdy Sam, and Mom on the Spectrum, are great YouTube channels for all kinds of info about being neurodivergent.

If you're watching the #axecon talk from Shell Little, I highly recommend working with her.

She has been instrumental in my career growth. She has helped me successfully navigate being an accessibility and inclusivity designer. And I'm so lucky for it.

Because she helped in ways I didn't even know I needed, in ways that have helped protect me from burnout.

That is essential for any accessibility professional. We all need this kind of support.

Slowly losing your ability to mask autism (and/or other neurodivergence) is a sign you might be burning out.

Masking is a survival strategy, but it is also extremely energy intensive.

Being unable to mask likely means you don't have the energy necessary

ADHD often comes in a bundle offer. Born with ADHD, get anxiety, depression, or a learning disability for free.

While some of the conditions bundled with ADHD are also developmental or congenital, some (such as depression and anxiety) can occur as a RESULT of ADHD as well

I think Mastodon is a lifeline for many of us in the #ActuallyAutistic community. It may be harder to make friends, surrounded by neurotypicals in real life, and/or disabled and isolated.

I’m the same as many of us. No friends locally, only 2 people I’m close to + my partner, and also disabled and isolated. My biggest socialization is video chat and my cats.

Mastodon is great for us. I’ve enjoyed talking to you all every day.

As some of you may have heard, Tweetbot is currently unable to authenticate with Twitter which currently has a huge impact on our business. Only mentioning this because we are going to be busy putting out fires and trying to get Ivory on the App Store ASAP. So it will be harder to answer your questions. However you can read our current roadmap for Ivory here: tapbots.com/ivory/

Also, here are 1000 more testflight openings for now. Thanks for all of your support! 🙏

@middlecground
Top 3 indepth books by Autistic authors:

1. Ten Steps to Nanette by Hannah Gadsby, incredibly indepth, traumatic, honest, I’ve never felt so seen.

2. But You Don’t Look Autistic At All by Bianca Toeps, Bianca runs through the DSM from an Autistic POV, lots of personal stories I could see myself in.

3. A Kind of Spark by Elle McNicoll - not scientific but such a powerful read, v. emotional.
